Thank you so very much for your interest in studying
the Bible and in CEBible. This page is an attempt to answer some of the
questions I frequently get asked about CEBible. So without further ado...
Q. I need an update or I have lost my installation
information. How do I get that?
A. You can order a downloadable update
from here or a CD
update from here. Please
do not send email or use the support form to request updates - use the order forms instead.
Q. I would like to order additional translations.
What is my license number for the order form?
A. If you originally ordered directly from
SLSoftware, your license number will be located in your order email with the identifier "License Number". If
you ordered from a site like Handango or PocketGear, your license number is part of your installation key.
For example, your key will look something like this:
CEB21H1234-56785678-91239123
The key is made up of a product identifier, a one-letter code for the site, your license number, and the unlock code.
In the example above, "CEB21" is the product code, "H" is the code for the site, and "1234"
is your license number. If it is unclear what your license number is, just include everything before the first
dash and we will figure it out.
Q. My downloadable
install program says something like "cannot locate CAB file" when installing.
What's wrong?
A. This usually
occurs when the install program has been downloaded and run but your translation(s)
have not. It can also occur when you have extracted the translations to a different
directory from the install. Make sure you download all of the files for your order
and run them so they extract to the same directory. Please see the Detailed
Walkthrough for installation instructions.
Q. I tried to install
CEBible but it tells me "CEBible2 is not a valid application" or "Could not
find component" or some similar error message when I try to run it. What's
wrong?
A. The most common
cause of this error is not selecting the proper processor type and/or version
of Windows CE. Double-check these settings and try to reinstall again. On reinstalling,
you don't have to reinstall the translation, just select the option for "executable
and help files only" and allow it to overwrite the files that are there. Also, if
you have a HPC 2000 machine like the Jornada 720, see the next question as well.
Q. I tried to install
CEBible to my HPC 2000 machine but it won't run. What's wrong?
A. When installing
to an HPC 2000 machine like the Jornada 720, select the version of CEBible
for CE 2.1 or CE 3.0 (HPC 2000), not CE 3.0 (Pocket PC), as indicated in the
CEBible install.
Q. Does CEBible

owner of the full version of CEBible, can I get an update?

owner of the full version of CEBible, can I get an update?

machines like the HP Jornada, Vadem Clio, and Sharp TriPad!

can I get an update?
A. Yes! CEBible

If you are a registered owner of CEBible v1.0 or v2.0, you will need to
upgrade to v2.1 - for details please see my

update through the Pricing and Ordering Page
as well.
Please remember that if you have more than one machine you must purchase a license of CEBible for

Q. Is CEBible
supported on Pocket PC 2002 machines?
A. Yes, CEBible
runs and is supported on Pocket PC 2002 machines.
Q. Does CEBible
run on the Casio BE-300?
A. CEBible v2.1
now supports BE-300 machines with CompactFlash cards (the BE-300 only has 4MB
total of non-volatile memory for storing applications and data). The low price
and great performance of these machines makes an ideal platform for CEBible!
Q. Does CEBible
run on Palm OS machines (Palm Pilots, Handsprings, etc.)?
A. NO, CEBible
does not support Palm OS machines at this time.
Q. Where can
I download the full version of CEBible?
A.
UPDATE 05/15/2000: You can now order CEBible with
any translation(s) for download through my
Pricing And Ordering Page.
Q. Can you
send me a free license of CEBible?
A. You are
welcome to download the CEBible demo from SLSoftware or other sites that
have the demo available. However, due to translation royalties and out
of fairness to everyone, the full registered version of CEBible must be
purchased like any other commercial software package. However, if you
need a paper Bible, please contact me and I will do what I can to arrange
to get you one.
Q. Is NKJV
(New King James Version) available for CEBible?
A. (1999-08-05) Yes!
The New King James Version is now available for CEBible v2! It took longer than
I expected to get all of the ducks in a row, but I guess better late than never.
My how time flies!
Q. Can I get Version
<insert version here> on CEBible?
A. I am open to
the possibility of providing additional translations for CEBible, including
versions in languages other than English. There are several factors to be
considered here, however. First of all, I must respect the rights of the
copyright holders of the various versions, and must abide by their
guidelines regarding the use of their translations. If you have contact
information for a copyright holder, I can get in touch with them regarding
use of their versions. Keep in mind that to use certain versions, a royalty
payment to the copyright holder may be required. Second, support of some
translations may require changes or additions to CEBible, so I may need to
have a certain minimum number of requests for a specific version.
Q. I sent you an email but I did not get
a response, or my message was returned with an "unknown user" message. What happened?
A. I regret that I am unable to
communicate via email do to many factors, mainly a lack of time but also the ridiculousness of
trying to find valid emails in a swamp of disgusting spam. I tried changing my email address
but the spam came back almost overnight. I will try to have some alternative communication
available early 2005, possibly through the SpareBrains site.
